August Foodie Penpal Reveal!!!

Okay – so I know I’ve been beyond absent in the blog world here lately, but I couldn’t miss out on my monthly foodie penpal reveal post!

Big shout out to Lindsay who puts this whole thing together each month!  She rocks!

This month, I received a wonderful package from the sweetest Leslie.  Seriously, she is probably one of the most thoughtful people I’ve ever “met.”  She put together a glorious array of goodies, including the cutest tea towel from her recent trip to Disney!

Clockwise from top left:

TJ’s pecan pralines…seriously amazing and addictive.  They taste just like pecan pie!

Peeled organic dried fruit – mango, banana, and pineapple.  Yeah.  That didn’t last very long. 🙂

Tea towel, mug, tazo iced tea, and mint tea.  Sooo soothing and delicious.

GoGo Squeez packs – these are great to keep in your purse, and I have definitely been so thankful to have them in my gym bag!

Mint tea – so good I had to picture it twice!

Pomegranate fruit strips – I may or may not sneak these into the movies and football games!

These little babies deserved their very own blog post in all honesty, but since I can only manage to post once a week at the moment, I figured they would have to settle for having their very own picture instead.

Seriously.  Leslie has forever changed my life with these little treasures. They are INCREDIBLE.  My favorite way to enjoy them is to sandwich a little vanilla ice cream between two cookie thins for a coconut ice cream sandwich.  Heaven.  Next time I go to Trader Joe’s, I will be stocking up on these for sure.

Leslie was also so sweet to include a fun toy for my fur babies.  Harley and Clyde were so excited that they got to be a part of Foodie Penpals!

In case you haven’t heard of Foodie Penpals, here’s the deal:

-On the 5th of every month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you are to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. You must submit your information by September 4th as pairings will be emailed on September 5th!

June Foodie Penpal Reveal!

How is it possible that it’s already the end of June???  I have no idea where this month went, but hopefully July will go by a little more slowly (in my dreams, maybe).

Hopefully by the time you read this, I’ll either be sitting at the airport giddy as a kid at Christmas or flying through the air (still giddy as a kid at Christmas).  Sorry – I’m not trying to be obnoxious, but I’m just so stinkin’ exciting about vacation!

Enough chit chat; onto the goodie box I received from my foodie penpal for the month of June.

Thanks to Lindsay for putting Foodie Penpals together!  She puts a TON of time and effort into this awesome food swap, and I cannot say thank you enough.

Ally from allypalooza sent me the coolest stuff from a local market near her home in Austin, Texas.

praline pecans – I already opened these and they are incredible

colossal coconut mango energy bar (this will be one of my snacks for the plane)

salted caramel brownie

I don’t know how long this brownie will last…it will be one of those things that I say I’m going to savor and eat slowly, but then after having that first glorious taste, I’ll inhale the rest in about three bites.  This will surely be followed by pure satisfaction and regret at the same time. 🙂

Justin’s peanut butter – always a favorite!

Thanks, Ally, for putting together such a great foodie penpal box for me!

Foodie PenPal Reveal!

Hey guys!  How is everybody this morning?

In late April, I started seeing a few blogs mention Foodie PenPals, which is hosted by Lindsay.  Getting to know more people, sending foodie gifts, AND receiving foodie gifts??? Count me in!  I signed up immediately.

Being that it was my first month participating, I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect.  Well, the lovely Amanda from Might As Well Dance sent me the most fabulous package!!!

Mayfpcollage

Amanda was incredibly generous and thoughtful.  I received homemade candied/spiced walnuts (with a recipe!), Justin’s chocolate almond butter and maple almond butter, salsa, strawberry preserves, an individual pack of Artisana coconut butter (I had no idea these came in individual packets – LOVE), a That’s It bar (pure fruit as the ingredients – this one had one apple and one pear), a Larabar, and an organic dark chocolate bar.  It seriously felt like Christmas going through this package of goodies.  I loved everything that Amanda sent, but I have to mention the cilantro garlic salsa.  It was truly amazing.  It was classified as a “medium” salsa, but it had quite a bit of heat to it, which we loved.  I can only imagine what the hot salsa would taste like! FIYAHH!!!  I was so very sad when the salsa was gone…  I think I may have to order some more!

If you want to get in on the fun food swap, click the link above and head over to Lindsay’s awesome blog to sign up!  You still have a few days before the June cutoff!

Enjoy your day!

So tell me…

What are some of your favorite “foodie” items?

Does the area where you live have any popular/noteworthy local treats?
