That’s what I said to my cardio dance class last night, and I completely meant it. After the cookie swap this past weekend, I brought home and consumed way too many sweet treats. Then I go to work yesterday to find a tin of homemade fudge, a box of homemade spiced pecans, and a box of homemade cookies on my desk from my precious students. I headed down to the work room only to find five trays of homemade baked goods. I sampled a little of this and that and definitely had an abundance of sugar. While dancing last night, I could feel the cookies sweating out. I told my friend after class that if someone had licked my arm, it would taste like pure sugar. Surprisingly, she didn’t want to try it. Go figure.
It’s that time of the year. That time where it’s easy to say “oh well, I can’t avoid it, so I might as well enjoy it” and give up completely. I refuse to let that mindset sink in this year. I have officially banned holiday weight gain. My workouts will be intense, my indulgences will be small and truly worth it, and I will eat my fruits, veggies, whole grains, and protein. Anyone want to join me in my ban against holiday weight gain???
This afternoon, I had a few hours between work and teaching SHRED, so I decided to get in some core work. I recently stumbled upon POP Pilates and absolutely love it! Cassey is precious and so upbeat – I love how she smiles through all the workouts. I always tell my PT clients that if they smile it won’t hurt as much haha (mind over matter, right?). Today I did the following POP Pilates workouts:
They were both great! On the muffin top meltdown, my obliques were seriously on fire; it was awesome.
What’s your fitness/nutrition goal for this holiday season?
Girl, not only am I sweating cookies– but I’m sweating peppermint bark, gingerbread, and chocolate! Gotta love the holidays 😀
I know! I think I have chocolate running through my veins! 🙂
That’s exactly how I felt last week! It’s definitely a lot of sweets lately. But I’m with you. I refuse to gain weight this time of year.
I’m so glad you feel the same way. Christmas is about so much more than having an excuse to pig out and put on a few extra pounds, only to swear them off again in January. I’m not falling into that cycle ever again. 🙂
I’m totally with you on this! Everything in moderation!! I’m not gonna gain weight this time of year! I may eat a few extra sweet treats, but i’m not gonna use the holiday as an excuse to overload!
The holidays wouldn’t be the same without way too much food! Which is kind of sad… but it’s just so good!
I know! It’s hard for me to pass up the sweets, but I try to pick the ones that are truly unique and delicious (not something I could eat any other day of the year). I hope you have a merry Christmas!
