Tooting my own horn

Today has been a great day!  I trained Martha this morning (you will hear a lot about her and our workouts) at 7, and we did the following workout:

Circuit One (two times)

  • Step-up pushups – 10 R and 10 L (inspired by Megan)
  • Heavy chest press – 15 with 20lb db’s
  • Twist crunches with 10 lb weight – 25
  • Tricep extension with bands – 15
  • Jumping jacks – one minute

Circuit Two (two times)

  • Burpees – 10
  • Flies – 15
  • Jumping wide to narrow squats with 10 lb weight – 15
  • Overhead tricep dips – 15
  • Side bend lunges with 8 lb weight – 12 (these are one of my favorites!)

Circuit Three (two times)

  • Pushups – 20
  • Reach with 12 lb weight – 20 and then hold up and pulse for 10
  • Tricep dips – 20 with R leg raised, then switch and do 20 with other leg raised
  • Ab blasters – 20

After our training session, I made a cookie dough cereal bowl topped with a few organic raisins and mini chocolate chips.  I caught up on my blog reading and then decided to finish reading Water for Elephants.  I really liked this book, and the ending was interesting!  By the time I turned the last page of my book, it was time for Insanity!  Today was Max Cardio Conditioning and Cardio Abs.  I wasn’t feeling the workout when it first started (my legs feel so tired by the time Friday rolls around), but after the warmup and stretch, I was good to go.

Once I showered and made myself presentable, I met up with my adorable friend Jade for lunch at Panera.  She was my Young Life leader in high school and we were close friends!  It was so good to catch up with her, and we both decided that we MUST talk more often!  We enjoyed our lunches (veggie sandwich and chicken berry salad for me) and talked for about an hour and half.

As I left Panera, I was headed to run some errands.  I came to an intersection where I was turning left, and the green arrow went off, so I decided to stop and wait before pulling out into the intersection too far.  I heard somebody lay on their horn like I was going to hit them, and I frantically looked around for a car I may not have seen…nothing.  Still the horn was blowing at me!  I looked at the SUV behind me and gave a “What’s your problem?” glance in my rearview mirror.  Then I realized I had my arm pressing down on my steering wheel, right across my horn.  That’s right, I was honking at myself.  I started laughing at myself because I probably looked like an idiot, but it was hysterical.  Go ahead, laugh at with me.

I’m cleaning the house now while Daniel helps the roofers finish up our house.  I’m hoping for some SUSHI tonight!

What was your workout today???

Thanks for the workouts – its always nice to change it up every once in awhile!

Coaching cheerleading must definitely be a challenge…I was one of those about 8 years ago, yet sometimes it feels like just yesterday!
